Amsterdam in a wheelchair โ€” way better than I expected

Submitted by Rachel K. ยท Visited March 2026 ยท Couple (2) ยท 5 days

I was nervous about the cobblestones but honestly the trams were perfect and most of the big museums are fully accessible. Our hotel was in De Pijp and we could take tram 24 directly to Centraal. The Rijksmuseum was the highlight โ€” step-free entry and benches in every gallery.

Top tips: skip the canal boat tour with stairs (look for "step-free boarding"), book museum tickets in advance, stay near a tram line.

Rome with three kids under 10

Submitted by Matteo P. ยท Visited February 2026 ยท Family (5) ยท 6 days

We stayed near Piazza Navona and it was worth every euro. Everything the kids wanted to see โ€” Colosseum, Trevi, Pantheon, gelato โ€” was within a 15-minute walk. We did a morning sight + afternoon park routine and no one melted down.

Top tips: Villa Borghese has a mini train the kids loved, most restaurants will split a pasta for kids, carry tissues (public bathrooms are rare).

Lisbon hills with bad knees โ€” survived and thrived

Submitted by Ana L. ยท Visited January 2026 ยท Solo ยท 4 days

Lisbon is hilly. Really hilly. But the trams and funiculars are everywhere and I used them religiously. Stayed in Baixa, which is the flat part, and took the tram up to Alfama or Chiado whenever I wanted to explore. Saved my knees completely.

Top tips: Viva Viagem transit card, tram 28 for sightseeing, eat at local tascas not the plaza restaurants.

Tokyo with a stroller โ€” trust the trains

Submitted by Jen & Marcus ยท Visited November 2025 ยท Family (3) ยท 8 days

Tokyo sounds intimidating but it's shockingly stroller-friendly. Almost every station has elevators if you know where to look (Google Maps tells you). Shibuya has clean bathrooms with changing tables, and department store restaurants (called depachika) are heaven for picky toddlers.

Top tips: Suica card, use JR stations over private lines for easier elevators, Ueno Park for kids, avoid rush hour with the stroller.

Savannah slow weekend โ€” a true walking-only trip

Submitted by Terri B. ยท Visited October 2025 ยท Girls' trip (4) ยท 3 days

We parked at the hotel on Friday night and didn't touch the car until Sunday. Everything we wanted โ€” Forsyth Park, the Riverfront, River Street, the squares โ€” was walkable, and when we got tired we grabbed a DOT free shuttle.

Top tips: stay on Bull Street near a square, free DOT shuttle along the river, ghost tours are fun but get the 7pm slot (not later).
